official Hiatus statment
Hi everyone!
I'd like to mention that JAC Productions' website has been up and running for 2 years now. Of course, JAC has been around much longer than that, but I would like to semi-celebrate...with a new extra for Final Dance Fantasy!!
Captain Planet time - cloud style
Please enjoy the crackdom. It is available to download on our site, and I hope people go check it out, along w/ new gallery photos.
This all being said, I would like to bring up a note of seriousness.
I'm sure everyone by now has noticed that there actually has not been a new skit, nor new videos in a LONG time. I'll like to take this time to explain this.
I'll start with a history lesson, to catch up.
If you really think about our timeline, JAC made Cup of Ramen TWO AND A HALF years ago. That's quite a freaking long time. Our last skit, MangaSpace, was performed at Oni-con 3. People may not be aware of it, but Oni-con 4 just passed by.
Reasons we haven't made any skits?
1) the big S word: SCHOOL.
we've all gotten considerably older, and many changes have happened to many of our group members (mostly, graduating from high school), so our work load has gotten considerably higher. We are actually not THAT young, and we have been raised to work hard in the education/job realm.
We simply have less time, and a big chunk of that is because our number one focus is school, not cosplay or performance.
2) ideas. those are tricky things.
In all honesty, it's been a very long time since we've tried to think hard about an idea, but great ideas are very hard to come by. If they weren't, heck, everyone would be making amazing skits.
Time and creativity is something we are currently lacking.
In the past, we felt we had to make skits based on 'tradition' of always making a new skit every convention, but we felt that perhaps that rush lowered the quality and thought process of our scripts.
We actually decided this as a whole, long ago, to not make a skit unless we were uberly compelled too.
so, if you're wondering:
"WHAT DOES THIS ALL AMOUNT TO??"
it's the official announcement that JAC Productions is on a hiatus.
this announcement needed an entire year to discover and announce, so we're sorry for leading you on.
I'm sure these questions have popped up, and will again, so I would like to address them here.
1) So you're not cosplaying anymore??
INCORRECT. We're up to our eyes in cosplay. We all evaluated our lists and decided that cosplay was something more fun (and flexible) to work on than skits, so we've actually come up with costumes beyond, oh I don't know, Naruto and bleach?
2)...you guys are splitting up?
No. we still love each other and hang out (when we can...now that about 1/2 of jac is out of high school, it's a little harder, but we all try and chill on
3) no, seriously. some of yall don't cosplay (together) anymore.
*shrug* It's all personal choice. Whether a person has time to cosplay, or has the skills, or rather cosplay away from JAC, doesn't mean they're not still loved to the core. We understand people go their different ways, but those at least still "active participants" (if there is such a thing) still consider ppl "in JAC"
JAC Productions might have taken a blow from the hiatus, but JAC hasn't.
4) I could write a script for you. I always wanted too!
...as MUCH as that is of awesomeness and greatness, we have to refuse. Skits are all about a group's creative ideas, and taking someone's isn't to our taste. We prefer that you save our amazing skit and do it with your friends.
JAC is NOT special. there are so many other skits and cosplayers out there who have just as much fun as we do, and have just a strong of a bond. Some even better and stronger, in all areas.
We suggest you perhaps build something like that for yourself. It really is fun.
5) you guys suck, you let me down and I hate your guts.
sorry that you feel that way, but we're only human. cosplay is a hobby, and sometimes we have to take the reality check and not play forever.
6) ...what IS a hiatus?
Google it.
In other words, we're taking a break.
7) does that mean you might make more?
Really, don't be on the edge of your seat. When we come out with something, hopefully it'll make its way to you. But we understand if everyone packed their bags and left, that's perfectly fine.
That's it! We're still going to leave things up and running, so if you want to stick around, that's fine. We see an amazing incline in popularity of cosplay, and in the number of great cosplay skits, so please do keep looking out for some amazing stuff!
Much love to everyone!
